Tourist Information

Singapore’s public transport system is fast, affordable, and efficient, whizzing you to most places hassle-free.

Public bus services operate from 6am to midnight daily. Bus fares range between SGD 0.80 to SGD 2.50, depending on the distance travelled. If you are paying by cash, the exact fare is required. If you are unsure about the exact bus fare to your destination, do check with the bus driver.

For greater convenience, purchase an ez-link card and hop on a bus! The ez-link card can also be used on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). SBS Transit bus number 36 runs between Orchard Road and Singapore Changi Airport. The public bus stations are located in Terminal 1 at Basement 2, and in Terminal 2 at Basement Level. Details of bus routes and fares are displayed at bus stations.

The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in Singapore is a modern, air-conditioned passenger train service with stations all over the island. Trains operate from 6am to midnight daily. Train fares range from SGD 0.80 to SGD 2.70.

You may purchase a train ticket from any MRT station using cash, or you may choose to pay your MRT and bus fares with a stored value ez-link card. The card may be brought or revalued at any TransitLink Ticket Sales Office located in most MRT stations and bus interchanges. Each adult card is sold with a minimum value of SGD 10 plus a deposit fee of SGD 5. The ez-link card can also be used for public buses.

You can obtain a copy of “A Quick Guide to MRT Travel” from the Station Control Rooms in all MRT stations. For more information on both the MRT and bus services, visit Public Transport@SG website:, or you can refer to the “TransitLink Guide” which is available at SGD 2.50 in most MRT stations and bus interchanges as well as at major bookstores.

Taxis can be flagged down 24 hours a day on most roads with well marked taxi-stands available outside most major shopping centres and hotels. The initial flag down fare starts between SGD 3.00 and SGD 3.40 (SGD 3.90 for limousine), which covers the first km. The fare then rises SGD 0.22 for every 400 metres thereafter.

Passengers may also need to pay different surcharges such as booking surcharges, ERP surcharges, peak hour surcharges and public holiday surcharges. Do check with the taxi driver before you board the taxi.
